Eighteen years.
Same five questions.
We've answered most of these a few hundred times. If you can't find what you're looking for, ask us directly — we reply within one working day.
Quoting & surveys
Typically 60–90 minutes for an average flat or house. We measure every opening to 1mm, photograph profiles, and review ironmongery and paint. The survey is free with no obligation.
Yes. After survey we issue an itemised, fixed-price quotation. No day-rates, no surprise extras. The only variations would be client-requested scope changes signed off in writing.
Usually within 7 working days. For listed-building projects, we book up to 4 weeks ahead because the survey is more involved.
No, anywhere inside the M25.
Materials & manufacture
Accoya as default (80% of jobs) for its 50-year warranty and dimensional stability. Sapele Mahogany for listed buildings where period grain matters. European Oak for cottage and Arts-and-Crafts properties. We never use untreated softwood.
In our own 820 m² workshop in Park Royal, NW10. Every window we sell is made there, by us. We don't resell or relabel imported units.
Yes. We laser-measure the original section and copy the bar arrangement exactly — six-over-six, two-over-two, six-over-two, margin lights, marginals, all reproducible.
Pilkington slim-line sealed units, krypton-filled, low-e coated, warm-edge spacers. 1.4 W/m²K U-value as standard. Single glazing for listed buildings where double is refused.
Installation
One to two days for an average 6-window flat. Larger jobs phased one room at a time so the property is never unusable.
Almost never. Rooms are watertight by evening, dust-sheeted and HEPA-vacuumed at the end of each day.
Pre-1980 frames are assumed to contain lead. We follow HSE lead-safe procedures with contained disturbance and licensed disposal.
We reuse the original boxes wherever possible — no brick disturbance. Any plaster damage is made good before we leave.
Heritage & consent
Yes — across all 33 London boroughs. We prepare heritage statements and liaise with conservation officers.
Often not for like-for-like replacement in unlisted buildings. Listed buildings require listed building consent — we handle applications.
Yes — we supply CAD sections, bar schedules and ironmongery specs for heritage architects regularly.
We advise after survey. In Article 4 areas, like-for-like may still require prior approval — we handle this.
Pricing & guarantee
10 years on manufacture, installation and microporous finish. Accoya carries a separate 50-year rot warranty.
Yes. 30% on order, 60% on delivery, 10% on snag-free handover.
Yes — we self-certify all replacement work, so no separate building-control application is needed.
Ask us
anything.
We're a workshop, not a call centre — the person who answers will be either a joiner, the surveyor or the founder.
